Description Hetz Ben Hamo 2006-12-19 13:14:18 UTC
Version: 0.12.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs

Hi,

With Kopete 0.12.3, when someone sends me a file, I do get a window which asks me to save the file, but there are couple of problems with it:

1. I think the file location can be replaced by a simple option in the configuration window to select a directory to store the files, and just wether the user accepts or denies the file transfer (with an optional checkbox "Do not show me again"). That will make life WAY easier when someone sends a user dozens of files.

2. The progress window should (IMHO) embedded to the chat window (I think the MSN guys did it nicely), and it should be more responsive. I have at work a firewall and many times the files were failed to deliver, the other side had been notified by his messenger, but I didn't see any error)

I would like to take this chance and say "THANK YOU" for Kopete. I have tested few other "competing" multiple protocol based chat clients (gaim etc) and I found kopete to be excellent!

Thanks,
Hetz

add option for default directory for incoming file transfers

This patch adds new option to behavior settins dialog. Also adds one button ("save as") into transfer notification for selecting path manually

I am doing some tests with the patch in comment #1. I had to rename kcfg_defaultFolderLabel to defaultFolderLabel to prevent Kopete to crash when opening the configuration dialog.

With Jabber most of the time the file transfer is unsuccessful when using the "Download" button in the incomming message. Using the "Save as" usually works, sometimes don't so I am not sure with the problem is in this patch. I have not been able to find why this happens.

When the file to download already exists Kopete asks twice if you want to overrides it with two different dialogs. In one of those dialogs there are three buttons: Continue, Override, Cancel. The Continue button could be removed since it does the same thing as the Override button does.

What kopete version are you using? On my Debian system kopete 1.0.0 with patch have no crashes or other problems. I will try to patch more recent version when it comes to wheezy.

Funny. I will check it.

I am using Kopete 4.6.1.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
