When I open gwenview, there are no pictures in the default folder (~/), so no image is displayed. I can go to the File menu, choose Open, then a dialog pops up as expected.

If a picture or movie is currently being displayed by Gwenview however, choosing Open from the file menu results in the following backtrace:
