Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Unspecified Linux Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20061027 (prerelease) OS: Linux I activated the Display Power Control in ControlCenter (Peripherals->Display->Power Control). The Display powers off after the expected time (Power off after ...) but after a while (about 10 minutes) it turns on again and shows the Xorg-Logo (white X on black ground) or just a blank screen. This is what i've tried to solve it: - set the OffTime-Option in xorg.conf - disabled the MIT-SCREEN-SAVER-Extension in xorg.conf - disable the Xorg-Screensaver via xset (xset s off) - use Xscreensaver to power of the display in all combinations, but the display don't stay powerd off. with 'xset s off' the display stays more then 10 minutes in power off mode but after some more time it powers on again too. In some forums I read that other people have the same problems after upgrading to KDE 3.5.5 I tried an other WM (Fluxbox + Xscreensaver) and there DPMS works as expected. Means the display stays powerd off as long as no key is pressed or the mouse is moved. So I think it's a problem with KDE. My Distribution is Arch Linux.
oops, a typing mistake: it should be dpms and not dmps !
I mean in the Summary ... sorry!

*** Bug 145899 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
The Energy KCM has been outdated and unmaintained since some time ago. In the other hand, KDE4 gained a new (and powerful) power management daemon: "PowerDevil" (which is accessible from System Settings/Advanced/Power Management) Today we removed the Energy KCM from the code in KDE 4.4 development trunk, to avoid some conflicts between the settings of the two modules and to set PowerDevil as the default power manager (it was the default one already). To the people using KDE4: disable the Energy KCM settings and configure your power management options using the new PowerDevil. If you encounter the same problems, please file new bug reports against the "solid/powerdevil-daemon" product on bugs.kde.org Thank you.
