Description Erwann Robin 2006-12-01 01:25:07 UTC
Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs
OS: Linux

the feature was first discussed here : http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127008

I think it would be usefull to be able to open pdf files, even if they doesn't end with a ".pdf" extension.
It would at least be usefull for php generated pdf.

Regards,
Diwann

kpdf is able to open pdf files generated by php script if the php script correctly informs of the mimetype, or at least it worked here last time i found a page like that. If you have an example where this does not work, please link it here.

PDF that doesn't open with KPDF

it works at least with every pdf that have a known non pdf extension
I just generated this pdf with openoffice and renamed it with .asp :

file pdf-without-proper-extension.pdf.asp
pdf-without-proper-extension.pdf.asp: PDF document, version 1.4

it is still a pdf but
kpdf: WARNING: Unknown mimetype 'application/x-asp'.

Regards,
Erwann

really, i don't see this comming from a php script. you are asking exactly the same that was asked on bug 127008?
Comment 4 Erwann Robin 2006-12-13 20:28:14 UTC
the bug 127008 has been closed and still exists.
and it is not exaclty the same because it occurs not only on php generated pdf. It occurs for every pdf, not named exactly *.pdf

If it's exactly the same as 127008, it's a duplicate, read there to see why this is not a kpdf problem but a kdelibs problem.
