Version: 2.5.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux I would like to have different icons for kate and kwrite. When I have opened both kate and kwrite and want switch to one of these, I cannot see in the Taskbar which is kate and which is kwrite. Furthermore, I cannot distinguish kate from kwrite in the Quick Launcher applet. Thank you for these two great apps (and for all other great KDE stuff of course) Arne
In Oxygen which is due for KDE 4, there are two different icons for Kate and KWrite. However, I have requested that the Kate Oxygen icon have some syntax highlighted colourful text in the paper shown so I'll take this opportunity to put that wish in the bug database.
I agree distinction would be a plus here. How about two different color shades of the currently white page behind the pen? That would offer both distinction and similarity.
Hi Arne! In oxygen/KDE 4 kate and kwrite do have different icons, but admittedly, those are *very* similar. Anyway, reassigning to artwork.

Looks like this has been resolved. Attached are a couple screenshots showing the differing icons.
Indeed, the icons are no longer the same. However, the icons in the task bar are still rather similar so that it is still not very easy to see which icon belongs to krite and which icon belongs to kate. Interestingly, the small icons for the task bar are more similar on my computer (Kubuntu 8.10, KDE 4.2.2, Oxygen) than the icons on Lee's computer (see attachment), although the large icons in the "about" dialogs are the same on my and on Lee's computer.

In the Breeze icon theme, which is now the default for KDE 5, the Kate and KWrite icons are once again exactly the same. :(
