Description Andrey 2006-11-17 23:07:05 UTC
Version: 1.9.5 (using KDE 3.5.5, Gentoo)
Compiler:          Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.18-no2

Kmail doesn't receive and send mail via pop3, pop3s and smtp...
When kmail starts and tries to recieve mail I see:
"The process for the pop3s://pop.gmail.com protocol died unexpectedly."
I have kdebase-kioslaves and kdepim-kioslaves installed.
Here is part of output
strace -f -o log `which kmail`:
//line 6065 setsockopt(19, SOL_IPV6, IPV6_V6ONLY, [0], 4) = -1 EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported) is strange a bit...

Sounds like a configuration problem - you might like to ask on one of your distro's support channels. Does it work if you set the environment variable KDE_NO_IPV6=1 ?
Comment 2 Andrey 2006-11-18 02:45:22 UTC
No it also doesn't work with this variable...
The same error.
Ok, I'll try to ask gentoo's support channels.
Comment 3 Martin Koller 2009-09-30 22:13:06 UTC
So did the support channel help you ?
Does the problem still exist for you in the recent KDE 4.3.1 version ?

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
