Hello!
The menu Settings in KMail contains an option to toggle QuickSearch. I think that either this option should be completely removed (well... who'd want to disable quicksearch?) or be placed in some other more sensible place such as in KMail settings -> layout settings.

I vote against this. I sometimes toggle quicksearch. (it takes up more space than I want on my low-res laptop screen, but it's a useful feature that I sometimes want to enable temporarily)

Currently, it is not possible to toggle quick search, so this is fixed right now.
