Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux After I altered the Xorg.conf or use sax2, some of the modification can not take effect immediatly, therefore, I have to restart the KDE. This is quit complicated. For example, if I modify the twinview setting, I have to restart the KDE, the setting can not go into effect immediatly.
so? That's the way X works, KDE can't change it
Hey, couldn't kdm detect if xorg.conf has been modified and be configurable to automatically restart X for you when you log out? Related [K]Ubuntu bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/27457
SUSE's kdm has been smart enough for as long as I've been using it to check for changed X config file on logout and restart kdm if file was changed. Why can't that be standard for KDE's base version?
