Description mi+kde 2006-10-24 19:02:37 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.2, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4 [FreeBSD] 20050518
OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 6.1-STABLE

I just installed a natively compiled Real-plugin. Konqueror found it and it is listed under the "Netscape Plugins".

Unfortunately, when I visit a site (http://www.cbsnews.com/), the video is not working. The only error message is on the browser's stderr and says:

nspluginviewer (plugin): ERROR: Can't create plugin class

Even if its reasons for being unable to do so are legitimate, there should be a more detailed error message...

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS and all related Java/plugin infrastructure) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
