Description Stephan Sokolow 2006-10-22 04:17:32 UTC
Version: v0.8.5 (using KDE 3.5.2, Gentoo)
Compiler: Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-gentoo-r4-20060825

When downloading files from sites which use cookies to determine whether the user gets their file (eg. for age verification), KGet integration causes the download to silently fail, saving the "Do you accept these terms?" page instead.

I don't know whether this is a Konqueror bug (Konqueror not sending the cookies to KGet) or a KGet bug (KGet not using any relevant cookies that are available), but it's definitely a problem. I almost lost a bunch of transient files I was trying to save. Thankfully, I tried to open one of them and discovered the problem before they left the server.

Can you please provide a sample URL where this happens?

Thanks,
Carsten

The site I noticed it on was a private one, so I had to ask around for another example. Unfortunately, the only other site my friends were able to come up with on short notice is http://fchan.hentaiplanet.net/

If it works the same way the private site does, KGet will silently mess up "Save Image As..." on images loaded directly in the browser. (the way you see them when you choose "View Image (...)" from the context menu)

Does this still not work in the KDE4-Version?

I've more or less stopped using Konqueror and, even before that, I'd stopped using KGet. I'll try to find time to set up and test it out some time in the next few days.

Seems to be fixed. Thankfully, the move to http://fchan.us/ didn't include a change in the cookie-based terms of use mechanism, so testing went quickly.
