Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs I ran Kooka for the first time. Kooka automatically detected my network scanner, and I selected it. I did not change any of the scan settings, but rather immediately clicked on the Preview button. A window with a progress dialog popped up. During this preview scan, Kooka crashed with a SIGABRT. Since I had run kooka on the command line, here is the terminal output: libkscan: WARNING: Trying to copy a not healthy option (no name nor desc) libkscan: WARNING: Trying to copy a not healthy option (no name nor desc) *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x082f1700 *** KCrash: Application 'kooka' crashing...
I've tried preview scanning a few more times with various settings, and Kooka consistently crashes every time the preview scanning progress gets to 100%.
Can you confirm the make/model of your network scanner, and how it is connected (i.e. is it connected directly to the network, or via a network server running the SANE daemon (saned). If it is the latter, does the SANE daemon require authentication (a username/password)? If so, then this is a known problem (authentication support missing) in Kooka, see bug 146874.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
Is Kooka still maintained even? It's no longer packaged by my GNU/Linux distribution and the official website has been down for ages. Anyway, I no longer have access to the scanner referenced in my original report, so I am not going to be able to provide the requested info.
Kooka is not longer existing.
