Description Martin Steigerwald 2006-10-17 15:53:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Debian stable Packages
OS: Linux

Hello,

I use Kontact + BasKet together to organize my work along the lines of Getting Things Done by David Allen. I like those both programs to be intetraged with one another.

I report this to Kontact, but it applies to Basket as well. But since Kontact is the umbrella program I think its okay to report here.

The integration should be beyond BasKet just being another tab in Kontact. I would like to be able to drag&drop BasKet list items to KOrganizer task list and vice versa.

Maybe BasKet could even provide a flexible list engine to other Kontact components. So KOrganizer could use it to provider more than one task list in order to support organizing stuff along the lines of Getting Things Done a bit better. So I could have "TODO", "Maybe/Later" and a "Wait for" lists.

On interest I can give this more thought and try to coordinate an effort to make a concept for it between the involved developers and usability people.

Regards,
Martin

One thing I miss the most is the lack of a calendar in the Basket tab in Kontact. I'd like to be able to search notes by date.

BTW, is there any way to change the date of a note you're creating to some day of your choice?

At the moment Basket is always started in a separate window when I run Kontact which is somewhat annoying.

This is an old wish. Is it still "alive"?
Comment 5 Martin Steigerwald 2010-04-14 09:36:24 UTC
Yes, it is an old bug and yes it is partly still alive. While Basket for KDE 3 is able to open in a Kontact tab, there is still no integration beyond that.

A small team is working on porting Basket to KDE 4 and has released a first beta version (http://basket.kde.org). The bug should probably be reassigned to that team. There should be a basket product in the bugzilla. But I see no way to change it. Maybe I lack the bugzilla karma to do it. So please feel free to reassign it to Basket.

It would be really great to have basket integrated with Kontact in KDE 4.

It would be an excellent replacement for the normal Note-taking application in Kontact

Kontactinterface is now part of kdepimlibs. changing the product.
