Description Adrian von Bidder 2006-10-13 15:18:11 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I'm Running kmail in utf8 locale.

What happens is that when I'm attaching a .txt file to an email (which is utf8 text, as LC_CTYPE on this system suggests), it gets sent with a text/plain; charset=latin1 MIME Type, but is not actually converted to latin1.

I'd expect the MIME Type to be text/plain; charset=utf8. Or, perhaps (but I'd *not* prefer this) for the text file to be converted.

I don't have any problems with Umlauts in normal email (text/plain, I don't do HTML emails), just with text/plain attachments.

kmail is set to prefer ascii to latin1 to utf8 locale when sending mail (composer -> charset) - perhaps this is the reason, no idea.

cheers
