Version: 1.9.4 (using KDE 3.5.4, compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.4.6 [FreeBSD] 20060305 OS: FreeBSD (i386) release 6.2-PRERELEASE I am experiencing several crashes a day using kmail talking to both exchange and courier IMAP servers. The crashes happen regardless of whether I have active filters. The trigger appears to be attempting to disply a message while the IMAP check is happening, e.g, if I am using the preview pane and I switch folders or messages kmail hangs for a few seconds then crashes with a signal 11. No backtrace, sorry, need to figure out how to enable debugging symbols in FreeBSD's kmail build and find the downtime to rebuild. This has been happening on the last couple of versions of kmail thoug.
I forgot to say that it also happens when trying to display a different message in the already open folder, whether or not the message is new or old.
kdepim should be build with ./configure --enable-debug=full in order to get full backtraces.
I have rebuilt kdepim with --enable-debug=full and I have been trying to reproduce the problem since. The version hasn't changed, just rebuilt with debug. What I am now noticing is that IMAP actions in general are *extremely* slow, particularly when kmail is trying to do more than one thing at once, e.g. sending an email and opening a folder, or opening a folder and trying to display the first message in that folder, or changing folders during a mail check. Frequently now I am having to abort the action and restart it. I haven't seen any crashes though so I'm wondering if there is a race condition or something :(
Haven't seen such a problem in KDE 4.2 and 4.3.
