Description Kurt Georg Hooss 2006-10-09 11:45:27 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

a similar bug (kmail crash when trying to attach word documents) was reported as "resolved",
however i have reinstalled both kontact and kmail and now it crashes already upon clicking the "attach" button (toolbar staple icon or "attach file..." inside the "attach" menu), about 1 second after popping up the selection dialog window, before any directory listings appear. sorry but this seems quite essential...

A backtrace is also essential in order to know what actually happens. Make sure Kontact/KMail is compiled from source with debug symbols enabled (./configure --enable-debug=full).
Comment 2 Kurt Georg Hooss 2006-10-10 12:46:55 UTC
hi bram, thanks for replying.

kmail/kontact were both reinstalled from ubuntu 6.06 repositories.
the only thing i could add is that i'm running it on an amd64 machine
and that the packages might be compiled for intel32 processors.

i am also running the same ubuntu on a 32bit intel laptop, and there it works
(see attachment)... sorry for my dumb answer, but i really don't have the time
to get into development/compiling issues now... i need to make a living.

thanks again, good luck. kde is really a great thing,
i have been using it for years now.
best, georg

Is this still happening with a recent kmail version?
