Description gambas 2006-10-07 17:44:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

Some of my mail folders respect the 'keep replys in this folder' option as well as the sender identity defined in the folder properties dialog.

And some don't. The only clue I noticed if that the folders that don't respect these options are top-level folders.

This bug is present in KDE 3.5.7

Still there in KDE 3.5.8

I have a folder where all my job related mails go. I have associated a special identity to this folder.

When I reply to a mail, the specific identity is used on some mails only, and always the same.

So the problem seems to depend on the mail contents. Strange... Why does kmail need to read the mail to know what identity to use, if this identity just depends on the mail folder?

This still happens in Kontact 4.3.0 / KMail 1.12.0.
Has anybody else experienced this behavior?

I've noticed this behavior in kmail2/akonadi. In my case, replies weren't kept in the same folder as the original message (even though the appropriate option was checked) until I went into Settings -> Configure -> Identities -> (my identity)

When the dialog opened it warned me that the sent folder doesn't exist anymore and set a default local folder for this purpose. I then manually set the proper sent folder and after this the 'keep replies in this folder' option started working.

I can see two bugs here:
- the application should warn me about invalid folders sooner (maybe check periodically? on initialization? when sending mails at least?)
- the reply should be kept in the original message's folder even if the generic sent mail folder does not exist

kmail & kde 4.7.3
akonadi 1.6.0
openSuse 11.4

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
