Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux With new Samsung DVDrw "writemaster SH-S182", using the real audio output, a full-scale negative click of 550us duration is output when track position is changed or track changed (every time). This does not happen with my existing sony DVD-combi drive. Happens with Suse9.0 using ide-scsi emulation and with Suse 10.1 using native ide. Makes the audio output unusable. Doesn't happen with W2K from 2001. I have checked the spdif digital output which is clean, as is software play mode. Am unable to try any equivalents to kscd as I can't locate any. Are there configuration files for the drives, or is this a problem with a standard interface? Any ideas how to pursue this?
Further testing shows that if 'PAUSE' is selected before 'NEXT' or 'TRACK SELECTION', there is no click. Similarly, 'PAUSE' before 'STOP' then next 'PLAY' causes no click. I have studied sources in Suse7.1 (Only sources I have access to)(which behaves same as 10.1) and put printf lines in etc, but can see nothing unusual in the ioctls etc. This may be a problem in the cdrom driver, creating ATAPI command packets from ioctls? Anyone any ideas?
