Kmail saves my email in to different formats when I drag and drop an email somewhere and when I save it through right click -> save as
Konqueror identify the letter I drag and drop as: "email letter"
The one I saved through the save command as: "MBOX directory for email"

Only the drag and drop letter is displayed as an actual email when clicked on.

I can see the only difference between the files is the following line that is printed as the first line in the "saved" file:

This is very easy to confirm. 

It seems strange to me that kmail saves in two "different formats"

in new kmail, it's not possible to drag and drop mails. so It's sort of resolved

It does and this bug is confirmed. Not a big deal although.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
