Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1-r1) OS: Linux I have KMail, KNode, Akregator components enabled in Kontact (among others). KMail and Akregator can display a system tray icon - but their settings are in different places. KMail: Appearance->System Tray->Enable system tray icon Akregator: General->Show tray icon KNode doesn't seem to support that at all - or, I can't find the setting. KMail icon's popup is titled "KMail", while Akregator's icon has a title "Kontact". The items in the popup menu are specific to that particular component - so Akregator's popup title doesn't make sense. The only exception is the "Quit" button - which closes all of Kontact. This is inconsistent with the rest of the items. It also seems impossible to close a particular component. When I start Kontact, Akregator is not running, and the icon is not there. If I open the Akregator component, the icon appears. After that, it's impossible to close it (and remove the icon) without restarting Kontact. If I go to Settings->Configure Kontact, I can configure KMail and KNode... but not Akregator. The only way to do it is to switch to Akregator, and then select Settings->Configure Akregator.
Also, clicking Akregator's icon makes the Kontact window appear/disappear instantly. Clicking KMail's icon brings up the window instantly, but animates it when hiding - as if it is minimized. And, the icon sometimes disappears when clicked (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121244). Doesn't happen with Akregator.
This is not a bug, but a feature request, and one that probably has been addressed. I suggest that if you still feel this way you should reopen this as a wishlist item.
And this report is heavily outdated, as it relates to a long gone version of kontact. Also, it is a mix of feature requests and several unrelated problems. Please report only one bug per report
