Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Debian stable Packages OS: Linux I use kmail in kde 3.5.2. I had the same problem with kmail in kde 3.4.2. I did *not* have this problem in kde 3.2.something. On my system, kmail periodically checks for mail on a POP3 account. Usually it works OK. But sometimes the checking just freezes at '0%', and stops there forever; no new mails can be received after that. Note that kmail's UI does not freeze; I can still works with existing mails, but not get new ones. If I simply close and reopen kmail this does not fix the problem - checking the account immediately freezes at 0%. I have to do "killall kmail" and then restart kmail - and it works again (until next time). Note that, in such a situation, if I close the kmail window and then do "killall kmail" , some process is found and killed - so apparently there is a stuck thread or fork or something. But if I close kmail whiule the lockup is not happening, "killall kmail" does not find any processes. If this is fixed in newer KDE, please just tell me so. 3.5.2 is the latest version for which I could get a backport onto Debian stable.
I have had this happen in the latest FC5 version too for the past week or two ! My versions are fully up to date in FC5 as kdebase-3.5.4-0.5.fc5 kdepim-3.5.4-0.1.fc5 kdelibs-3.5.4-0.3.fc5 I usually have to close Kontact and then restart it. It runs fnie but usually overnight stops receiving again. Mike
Mike - "for the past week or two" only, it was OK before? Any configuration changes that might have led to this?
Do you still see this problem with the current KDE 4.3.1 release ?
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
