Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package OS: Linux User cannot specify the charset and codepage during mounting removable media. If this device listed in /etc/fstab with required options (iocharset=..., codepage=...) , Konqueror send an error message 'Permissions denied'. If device is not listed in /etc/fstab, it mounting OK, but files with national symbols in names shown with ???? instead this symbols. So, the 'Charset' and 'Codepage' selectors must be added to Filesystem Specific Mount Options in 'Mounting' tab in the Device Propeties window. Configuration: RoverBook B400L Voyager (aka Clevo M350) KDE 3.5.4 hal-0.5.7 ArchLinux 0.7.1 Noodle
Editing /etc/fstab for removable media is wrong!!! HAL and KDE's MediaManager should do everything for you. B U T: KDE's MediaManager is very limited in setting mount-options - i.e. it doesn't know iocharset, codepage, dmask, fmask, umask, etc., yet. => Accessing NTFS-formated external drives i.e. is impossible with present KDE!
