Description Stephen Frazier 2006-08-25 10:13:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Can not install any DEB package using KPackage.
I installed a Debian Etch system selecting base and KDE desktop.
I open KPACKAGE and select a package. Message "Login Problem: Please login manually" is displayed in new window KPACKAGE(2).
If I click on close or enter anything in the window, both it and the first window will close and a window labeled "KPackage - The KDE Chrash Handler" will come up. The Short description on the screen is "The application KPackage (kpackage) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEVG).
I can start Aptitude in a terminal session and select the same DEB package and it will install corectly.
Comment 1 Toivo Pedaste 2006-09-19 14:22:00 UTC
Can you send me a copy of the traceback that is displayed by "KPackage - The
KDE Chrash Handler"

What distribution are you running?
Comment 2 Stephen Frazier 2006-09-19 20:58:06 UTC
I am running Debian Etch. My Kpackage is 4;3.5.4-1.

The backtrace says:

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously
corrupted in the crash.

(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".

Got the same problem with the "Login Problem: Please login manually" message, even if I run KPackage as root. Any solution? Using KDE 3.5.10.

The original report is missing a valid backtrace...
Comment 5 Nicolas L. 2010-08-19 10:36:52 UTC
do you still reproduce this bug ? if yes can you provide the needed backtrace ?

thank you a lot
