Description Stevan White 2006-08-09 09:46:06 UTC
Version: 3.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

From a fresh install (checked there are no settigs files in .kde/ for korganizer.
click on calendar date
double click on time
enter information into Edit Event dialog.
Click OK

Alert dialog: "There is no resource available"

OK, what is a "resource" in this context, and how do I make one "available"?
One sees no mention of "resource" in the menus...

Of course, what it is really missing is a calendar selection.

* The error message should read "No calendar selected". (The term "resource" seems to be used internally by the developers, but does not appear in the UI.)

* The alert should present itself *before* the user has entered a bunch of information into an event, when the user first try to add an event.

The Korganizer agenda file (I suspect)

Is this file corrupted somehow?
Comment 3 Bouke Woudstra 2009-01-19 09:37:28 UTC
I've got the same problem with KDE-4.2rc1. All of a sudden my appointments are missing. If I make a new appointment and push Apply I get the message "There is no recourse available".

Checking .kde4/share/apps/korganizer shows the file (with all appointments in it) is there in fact:

[bouke@myhost korganizer]$ ls -l
totaal 44
drwx------ 3 bouke users 4096 aug 4 12:17 designer

-rw-r--r-- 1 bouke users 104 aug 7 17:26 std.ics~

Somewhere else was stated that it might be a right problem. But it seems so me this is not the case.

Can it be the file got somehow corrupted? I'll attach the thing as attachment. See above...

Doesn't apply to akonadi, closing.

Try 4.6.

Hi Sergio,

Please expand upon your comment!

In what sense does "Doesn't apply to akonadi" resolve the bug posted against KOrganizer?

How can we check that the bug is fixed?

Thanks!
Comment 6 Sergio Martins 2011-07-09 22:11:31 UTC
Hi Stevan,

In 4.6, Korganizer has been ported to Akonadi and no longer uses the old framework ( KResources ).

Akonadi does things differently, and this bug doesn't occur there.

Some things that changed:

1. When starting korganizer on a fresh install you will always have one "akonadi resource".

2. Selection doesn't matter any more. Now the event editor has a combo-box where you can choose which "akonadi resource" to use. That alert message is gone.
