Description Stefan Borggraefe 2006-08-01 11:56:56 UTC
Version: 3.5.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure "Middle click opens URL in selection" is deactivated.
2. Copy some text into the clipboard.
3. Open a webpage with a textarea you can edit (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Konqueror&action=edit ).
4. Paste the text in the clipboard via middle-click into the textarea.

Result:
The text in the clipboard is pasted into the textarea and autoscroll is activated.

Expected result:
Only paste the text and don't activate autoscroll.

This is a regression in Konqueror 3.5.4. Konqueror 3.5.3 didn't have this bug.

I'm using the current Debian Sid packages of KDE.
Comment 1 Altmenorg 2006-09-08 01:16:44 UTC
I can confirm this on kubuntu using 3.5.4 too, and I can also confirm it is a regression.
Tested on Mandriva with 3.5.4, same issue too...
Comment 2 Iñaki Baz Castillo 2006-09-08 01:24:03 UTC
I confirm this bug too in Kubuntu Dapper since I upgraded to KDE 3.5.4.
I've already reported this bug #133080 but it appears as INVALID. Please, considere this bug as CONFIRMED.

Can't reproduce, KDE 3.5.4. Maybe distribution-specific?
Comment 5 Sebastian Kemper 2006-10-17 02:24:16 UTC
Hi Leo,

did you disable "Middle click opens URL in selection"? I can reproduce it. Went from 3.5.2 to 3.5.5 (on Gentoo) and scrolling gets activated.

Sebastian

Confirmed with current SVN (i.e. no distribution patches).

Still in 3.5.8 (Debian Sid).
Comment 9 Nikos Papadopoulos 2008-01-20 22:04:08 UTC
This bug is very annoying!
Comment 10 Iñaki Baz Castillo 2008-01-20 22:07:33 UTC
Yes, really annoying. But more annoying is the fact that this bug exists for more than a year being a regression.
Comment 11 Iñaki Baz Castillo 2008-02-09 21:25:43 UTC
It doesn't occur in KDE 4.0.1 of Kubuntu ;)
Comment 12 Michael Zanetti 2008-04-20 16:35:53 UTC
still present in r798527.
Comment 13 Iñaki Baz Castillo 2009-04-06 00:16:22 UTC
Id didn't occur in KDE 4.0.1 (in Kubuntu), but it *does* occur in KDE 4.2.2 (Kubuntu Jaunty). Annoying :(
Comment 14 Iñaki Baz Castillo 2009-07-29 01:53:08 UTC
Also occurs in KDE 4.3 RC3.
Comment 15 Sergey Burladyan 2010-03-02 02:27:03 UTC
KDE 4.3.2 Debian testing/unstable, still present.
Comment 16 Iñaki Baz Castillo 2010-03-02 11:24:03 UTC
It's really sad that such important bug is not fixed within more than 3 years.
And more sad the fact that it's still in "NEW" state, even if some persons have confirmed it.
I've been using Konqueror as web browser during the last 6 years, but now with such kind of bugs and lot of crashes I must definitively use other browser to work. Really sad for me.
Comment 17 Stefan Borggraefe 2010-11-16 09:38:47 UTC
KDE 4.5.1 Kubuntu 10.10, still present.
Comment 18 Artem S. Tashkinov 2011-02-10 01:04:13 UTC
We'll soon be celebrating 5 years of this regression :)

Most KDE developers use GTK+ based Firefox. ;)
Comment 19 Stefan Borggraefe 2011-11-13 12:28:53 UTC
Works for me with Konqueror 4.7.2 on Kubuntu 11.10 64 Bit. :)
Comment 20 Sergey Burladyan 2012-03-24 22:18:22 UTC
It is fixed with WebKit, but still broken with KHTML.

Qt: 4.7.4
KDE: 4.7.4 (4.7.4)
Konqueror: 4.7.4 (4.7.4)
