Description Stephan Sokolow 2006-07-31 10:01:11 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.4.5 (Gentoo 3.4.5-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9)
OS: Linux

Note shapes/sizes and positioning info should save without waiting for the user to log out. I suggest doing so when they lose focus, the same way you do for their contents.

Usually, I only log out by power outage, and having to re-position my notes every time I log in (thank goodness that you at least save their contents automatically) is a big pain.

Well, this is certainly not the recommended way and I'm surprised the notes'
positions is the only information lost that way.

Yes, there were too many content losses, so I needed something absolutely
reliable. However, I did not want to save the position because that would
slow down switching windows even more as this information is written to a
different file.

I'll keep this report open and see what others think. You may quit KNotes
before pulling your plug as a workround for the time being.

I really should clarify my definition of "log out by power outage."

I never pull the plug. The weather does it for me. If I could afford a UPS, my uptime (and probably time since last login) would be close to 6 months by now.

Will have to work on solving this.

This report is about a completely outdated version of knotes, please feel free to reopen the report if you can reproduce this with KDE 4.9.0 or later.
