Description Johannes Stallkamp 2006-07-24 08:58:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

I'm using the swsusp2 kernel patch for suspend-to-disk/hibernation. After the system wakes up, Kmail crashes on the first email download (both manual and automatic).
It shows the following error message (first german for exact content, translation to English below):

German:
"In KMail ist ein schwerwiegender Fehler aufgetreten. Das Programm wird beendet.
Die Fehlermeldung lautet:
Die Nachricht kann nicht zum Ordner hinzugefügt werden: Ungültiger Dateideskriptor."

English:
"KMail encountered a severe error. The program will be terminated.
Error message:
Message cannot be added to folder: invalid file descriptor."

If I can or need to supply more detailed information, please let me know.

Cheers
Johannes

Invalid file descriptor sounds like a problem with the kernel suspend functionality. You might want to investigate that

Is this still a problem in a recent kmail version?

No response. Closing old KDE 3 crash
