Version: desconocido (using KDE 3.5.3, Debian Package 4:3.5.3-1 (testing/unstable)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-1-k7 I use 'restore last session' option always. I get Amarok and Kate restored on the desktop that is active during the restoration process. Example: Just before exit I have Amarok on the 7th desktop and Kate on the 2nd and focus on the 3rd. After logging out and logging in: Amarok and Kate land on the 3rd desktop, which is properly active on the beginning of the restoration process. Or if I switch the desktop in the right moment from 3rd to 4th during the restoration process, let's assume Kate is restored first, Kate lands on the 3rd desktop and Amarok on the 4th. There are some other applications active, but they are restored properly, exactly where they were left. The applications are most of the time started on the desktop where they later reside, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
It seems it didn't post the versions, so here they are: dtown:~$ ksmserver -v Qt: 3.3.6 KDE: 3.5.3 The KDE Session Manager: 0.4
I have exactly the same problem. When I log out kde with one kate instance running on the 2nd desktop and another one on the 3rd, on the next startup if the 1st is the active one everything gets messed.
Application bug, it moves its window to the current desktop and activates it. Reassigning to Kate, please fill another report for Amarok.
I can also confirm this with kate on kde 3.5.4 It's a mild annoyance.
same problem: kate2.5.1, kde3.5.1, suse 10.1
I can confirm this on Kubuntu 6.06, KDE 3.5.5.
Looks like a duplicate of bug 117618.
