Description Stephan Sokolow 2006-07-11 21:22:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.4.5 (Gentoo 3.4.5-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9)
OS: Linux

I use KEdit for a wide variety of tasks and it gets very tiring having to dig into the options to enable and disable word-wrap.

I'd like to request an option that toggles between "word wrap disabled" and whichever mode was selected in the options.

I was thinking that this alteration could be represented in the options dialog by changing the Word Wrap dropdown into a checkbox and a "wrap type" dropdown. That way, the behaviour of the new menu item wouldn't risk confusing people.

Enabling and disabling static word wrap in Kate 3.2.1 (using KDE 4.2.1) requires to select:
Settings -> Configure Kate -> Editor Component -> Editing -> "Enable static
word wrap"
This is annoying when editing certain kind of text-based source files, e.g. LaTeX sources, where paragraphs are typically word wrapped and verbatim environments are not.
While "Dynamic Word Wrap" and "Word Wrap Document" actions are available to be added to Toolbars and Shortcuts, the same is not possible with "Enable static
word wrap". Is it possible to "Enable static word wrap" to the list of action available in Toolbars and Shortcuts?

Best regards.

Wishing for things in non-existent software doesn't tend to be useful. Feel free to refile against kate or something if this hasn't been implemented.
