Description Christo 2006-07-11 16:30:37 UTC
Version: 3.5.1 (using KDE 3.5.2, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4-r1, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8)
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.16-gentoo-r12

Hi

first again: great KDE :-)

second: i sometimes cannot handle the situation when i browser the filesystem using the special-button "Schnellanzeiger" ( Quickview ?? ) ( pasa ankrit :p ) and come to a Folder list that is a bit longer ..

imagine i browser deep folder structures ( doc-library ) ... folder1*whatever" .. folder 2 .. folder 3.. now the widget reached the right edge of my screen ... I choose "more" to see more .. widget opens left .. i go deeper again .. the next widget opens right .. i want to go back withmy mouseone the list is rather long eg. "the quanticsoul band feat. the foldername is a very long name .. so the menu-widget is alseady rather long and broad .. i try to go left again and haver a long way with my mouse , change the line and come to another folder ( longname ) .. it happens too easy that i end up by leaning forward and find the "ESCape button" to go back ...

ok thatwas a long text .. but the bug is easy .. if the menues wouldnt respan so fast i would have time to correct my mouse-gesture ..

so i looked for a parameter to set the kicker-menu-spawn-time ( like this :-) .. cannot find it

please tell me where to set this .. this may sound like a wishlist now , but in fact i think its a bug : for experienced browsing its now easy to handle ...

thanks for reply

Duplicate of bug 50457?
Comment 2 Christo 2006-07-12 10:52:55 UTC
crossposting to updated bug 50457 confirmed , but 50457 not resolved , its just unvoted and outdated, but no more :-)

Ok, duping then. One report per issue is enough.

i dont agree to the ticket-status - i think the lack of this option ist a bug , and i dont think that there is no option like this.. maybe no option in the gui of KDE , but somewhere in the configfiles ( remember my second question ? :-) - how2fix-myown ? )

if it would be a dup ( wishlist:bug ?) it would not be outdated, because the last ticket was closed with a comment like "useless" , which is no answer to a bug - more to a wish and not kind :-)

.. since i think this "unchangeable"?-default is "useLACK", since it effects my work ( marginal but real) , i consider it a bug, not wish :-)

clue: it would be a dup if you change 50457 to a bug :-))

Whether this is a dupe or not doesn't depend on the status of the bug it is duped against.

The developer already decided that this feature should not be implemented. Sorry for that. Having a new identical bug report open won't change this decision.

Also your report is not about a bug, but a wish to add a new feature. The menus currently work as designed. How much not having this missing feature bugs you isn't the criterion here. ;-)

Also a bug tracker is not a support medium, but a tool for developers and testers. Use the appropriate newsgroups, irc-channels, web forums or mailing lists to ask support questions. Thanks! :-)
