Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs The only thing I use the mouse wheel on the panel is cyceling through Desktops and I am irritated that it is only possible to do so when over the pager. So I would like to have the ability to use the mouse wheel to switch desktops on the whole panel (e.g. over Quicklunch, Pager, Taskbar, System Tray and whatever else you can put in there) in the fashion like it is when the mouse is over the Pager. While the mouse is over Quicklunch and System Tray, the wheel has no function at all at the moment, so no funktionality would be broken here. While over Taskbar the wheel currently cycles through applications, but the sequence the applications are cycled through are far less predictable then if it just would cycle through Desktops. (At least the way I handle it: the different types of applications get the same Desktop every time) From the point of ergonomics it would be a huge improvement: just ram the mouse to wherever you have located your panel and use the mousewheel, it would be impossible to miss the area where you can easily cycle through Desktops! (granted your panel goes across the whole side) (Be sure that you also have the edges inside this area, its a shame that the edges have no function at default setting! Those are the areas you have the least trouble getting the mouse into without thinking about targeting.)
This is the default behaviour with kde 4.2.1. Please include a way to entirelly disable this irritating feature. I can't help but end up switching desktops and getting irritated when all I want is to scroll through the page in my webbrowser/okular/whatever, because I naturally move the pointer so that it doesn't disturb my reading somewhere outside the window, which, when maximized, means the target is pretty much narrowed down.
@Roc: please open a new request about this issue against "plasma" product in bugzilla. Thanks
Kicker is no more mantained and developed. All kcontrol related bugs to the old KDE 3 panel has been closed. Bugs and valid wishes applicable to KDE 4 has been added to a list. Regards.
