Currently, in the content tab, the file type drop down list is read only and contains a selection of
* files
* directories
* symbolic links...
* collections of common media files
* dozens and hundreds of single file types

I wish to be able to make my own file types and collections, and to save and manage them. For an example implementation, have a look at the Windows application Total Commander.
