Version: 0.11.3 (using KDE 3.5.3, Debian Package 4:3.5.3-1 (testing/unstable)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16-2-k7 Google talk has a very nice feature : chatting off the record http://www.google.com/talk/images/offtherecord.gif A button on the status toolbar should be used for enabling/disabling this feature (also the offthe record text should be highlighted in some way (by using an "off the record" ?))
highlight : off the record background
Note: Off the record is described in Jabber JEP 0136, which allow to don't let the server archive messages while we are in this mode. (this also advert the other side to do the same) Note2: Only few Jabber server implement the message archive currently (only Google afaik, even if a patch for ejabberd has been released recently) Note3: I personally don't see the interest of this. logs are your own propriety on your side, you can remove them if you want.

(this also > advert the other side to do the same) Very good thing, I want it for the kopete arhive > Note3: I personally don't see the interest of this. logs are your own > propriety on your side, you can remove them if you want. Lets say I have a wife and she knows your password(or she can ask you to login) adn she knows how to see the archive. If I speak to another woman !some! things, I dont want my wife to know and I dont want to suspect anything(she will suspect someting if I global disable the arhive). Should I post a KDE IMpovement @ kde-apps.org to see users ratings?
Gof: This is not about server-side history feature but OTR(Off-The-Record) plugin, and this is different from the OpenPGP JEP for Jabber. There is already a bug opened for that so I close that bug as duplicate (and the bug has really high vote) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 100433 ***
I'm not sure this is the same
I read that wish .. I don't want to hide that conversation ( "not decrypted by anyone else, not even by yourself" ). I want that when I press the off the record button, history plug-in is PAUSED for this contact(the person with which I speak)(and continue it's state for the rest), in other words temporary per contact history pause. So when history is paused for a contact, when I sedn text to it, nothing is recorded by the hist plugin(as I didn't send anything) This bug is NOT a duplicate of 100433
not duplicate
ok, this is quite ambiougous. I think OTR(Off-The-Record) really goes on his own channel of communication so conversation would not be logged by GMail.
I will make myself clear in the folowing lines:! I want that Kopete(by kopete history) to pause to "recording" a conversation betwin me and a CERTAIN contact when I tell the plugin to do so(by clicking the "Pause recording this conversation" button) (not to write the conversation to $home/.kde/share/apps/kopete/logs folder) as long as that button is unpressed. For all other contact the stated of the plugin(running or paussed) remains as before clicking the button. If u think the name "OTR chat" is ambiguous, change the name to something like "Off the Arhive". Implementation: For every contact, the pluging must marked it as "Paused" or not and if is NOT paused it should record the coversation, else ignore it. I thing is clear now, because I want to talk with my mistress :P off the record (at least on my side of the conection)
This feature is really called "off the record" both in the Jabber JEP and in the Google interface. Too bad the name clash, but it's the name. but let's call things with their name
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
