Description Sebastien 2006-06-07 20:51:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I have no unread mail... except in FolderA, where I have 10 unread mails.
KMail system tray icon displays 10. Right.

I modify the properties of that FolderA to not notify of unread or new mail in that folder.
I click OK, KMail system tray icon now displays nothing. Right again.

While doing something else, I'm receiving a new mail in that FolderA.
KMail system tray icon now displays 11!
Wrong!!

It's ONLY when I click the systray icon to SHOW the main window that the displays finally vanish out to not count the mails in FolderA.

I'm now reading one mail in that folder, and when that mail is marked as unread, the count is back again in the systray icon: it displays 10!
Wrong again!

Strange.

Oh, and while I'm at it, suppose I have 10 unread mails in Inbox and 5 unread mails in MyOtherFolder. The current opened basket is Inbox. Systray shows 15. When I click the systray icon to show the main window, the count goes down to 10 (the number of unread mails in the current folder) and half a second later the count goes back to the right value, 15. I think this is a related bug and the flickering make KMail feel made of fragile paper (as with every flickering). Even if it's a detail, it also give the sentiment that the whole application is buggy: "if it even can't count well, what about it reliably storing my senssible mail data during years?!". It's only a feeling: I never lost any mail but it's as important to solve the counting as it would be for a more critical bug.

See bug #117717 as a possible solution for this.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
