Description Friedemann Schorer 2006-05-25 21:21:58 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.2-0ubuntu18 dapper)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.15-23-686

I've seen this problem for quite a while now, maybe you can track it down though...

On my laptop I use kmail to connect to my IMAP folders on two different servers, one of them running courier-imapd (the other one is AFAIK a sun mailserver).
When I click e.g. INBOX, kmail looks for the folder content - and that for a long time. When I hit the 'expand' button on the right bottom, I get a long list, which tells me, quite a lit mails from this folder are being UPLOADED to the server.
It looks to me as if kmail first downs them and loads them up again then.

Additionally, when I have a number of unread mails in a mailfolder and have it displayed, I first get all those messages displayed in the list. But then suddenly one unread message after the other disappears from the list again.
When I reload the folder content, those messages reappear.

Pls. let me know when you need more information on this issue, I'd be happy to help you. kmail really rocks, thanks for this great software!

Best regards,

Friedemann

Oh, I forgot: I've seen this problem with my debian machine as well.

I've been wondering this too. There is also lot of bug entries about duplicating messages and it's somehow related to this.

I recently saw this duplicating when my lan was heavily loaded due video streaming and then some messages started duplicating in inbox, most likely
this odd uploading thing.

Message are only uploaded with disconnected imap so I guess your account is
defined as disconnected?

At least mine is not. I've seen so many dimap issues in bugzilla so thought that it's not production ready yet. Just plain two ssl imap connections to two different dovecot servers.

I also have pretty slow and long link to servers and sometimes I see it from progress meter that it's 'uploading'.

Maybe this is the same as bug 125084?
