Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE 3.5.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.2-0ubuntu0breezy1 breezy) Compiler: Target: x86_64-linux-gnu OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.12-10-amd64-k8 when connecting a camera to my USB port the icon "USB imaging interface" correctly pops up in "media:/" directory and at the same time the KDE deamon opens a special dialog window asking ofr action for this particular media ; so up to here everything is fine but if I either : (1) select "open in a new window" in the a special dialog window, (2) or double click on the icon "USB imaging interface" in the media directory I get very stange behaviour : - for (1) the window "system:/media/camera/camera" that opens shows an icon text file "Canon Powershot A80 (normal mode)" and if I click on this icon I get the error message : "a problem occured when loading system:/media/camera/camera/camera : unknown problem" - for (2) the window "media:/camera" that opens on double click shows an icon directory file "Canon Powershot A80 (normal mode)" and if I click on this icon I get nothing !! But if I open a window on "camera://Canon PowerShot A80 (normal mode)@[usb:]/" I can correctly access my device ! Obviously there is something wrong somewhere ! Regards.
Do you still have this problem?
The problem is differenet now : when connecting a camera a window (1) pops on Desktop with this tiltle "camera:%2f - KDE deamon" with 3 proposals : (a) open in a new window (b) upload photos to Digikam (c) do nothing. Option (b) works very well as a KDE feature to handle photos ; it has even a possibility to identify automatically which camera is connected without going to Kcontrol to set it ! ; the only thing that do not work is option "Browse media:/camera". Option (a) presents some problems : - in the window title this "2%f" ! - it takes very long to show the content of my camera memory through URL "camera://USB PTP Class Camera@[usb:001,003]/" with the following folders : - folder "store_00010001", - folder "store_8000001". Same problem when opening any of these folders as it takes for ever the second one is empty and the first on contains 2 folders : - folder "DCIM", - folder "MISC" in DCIM I can go though other steps to acces my pictures but it is very very slow. I do not understand why a PTP acces is proposed as with my camer Canon Powershot A80 Kcontrol is proposing two protocols for access : - (1) Canon Powershot A80 (PTP), - (2) Canon Powershot A80 (normal mode) Only mode 2 allows to positively test the camera and retrieve some information. Rather then using URL "camera://USB PTP Class Camera@[usb:001,003]/" but URL "camera://Canon PowerShot A80 (normal mode)@[usb:001,008]/" works very well and fast ! Questions : - why is PTP protocol used ? - is the volume supposed to be mounted under "/media" ? I can make test for you to fix all this ; thanks.
Konqueror can't find the usb device and reports an error code 50 message. In the hardware list the camera shows up as being a Panasonic FZ5, while the camera is a FZ30! Media also is unable to find device.
I have Ubuntu 8.04, GNOME 2.22.2 and KDE 3.5.9. lsusb Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 002 Device 004: ID 04da:2372 Panasonic (Matsushita) Lumix DMC-FZ10 Camera Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 In GNOME I have no problem to use PC mode in camera and to see and download pictures and movies. As far as I can see Daniel reported the same issue one year earlier already, see Bug 113430. As for Comment 1, Comment 2 and Comment 3, those are likely different problems. Please open new/separate bugs if they can still be reproduced. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 113430 ***
