Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

Please check the default focus in the settings. For example just go

settings -> conf. knode 

The focus should be at the left icon list, but it is in the signature edit box.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug.
