Description Richard Fish 2006-05-10 05:42:36 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.4.6
OS: Linux

When using composite and translucency, I get artifacts from the kicker mouse-over effects. This happens when I move the pointer from one panel button to another, triggering a new tooltip-like window to appear. If instead I move the pointer outside of the panel, the effect fades out and no artifacts are left.

Significant details:

- kde 3.5.2
- Gentoo system (ebuilds for kicker and kompmgr are kicker-3.5.2 and kwin-3.5.2-r2)
- x.org 7.0.0
- nVidia drivers 1.0.8756
- GeForce GO 7800
- Render acceleration on (off makes no difference)
- AllowGlxWithComposite on (default now, off makes no difference)
- BackingStore on (off makes no difference)

i have exactly the same problem

- gentoo, bleeding edge ~amd64
- xorg 7.1
- nvidia 87.74 (the same artifacts take place with nv driver from xorg)
- gf 6600GT

a problem with composition manager, not kicker's tips. nothing i can do about it.

when people say things like "composite is not a mature technology" they mean it ;)

So rather than closing this, can it be reassigned to kompmgr, or do I need to file a new bug.
