Description tor 2006-05-07 10:44:07 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Whenever I run amarok from the KDE menu the splashscreen appears for a long time and amarok doesn't start. When I run it from de console it says:

amaroK: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
amaroK: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow
amaroK: [Loader] amaroK is taking a long time to load! Perhaps something has gone wrong?

The backtrace in /home/tor/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ says as follows:

==== kdBacktrace() ================

Well, I don't know if this could help you, but something really bad happened and I had to make a fsck.ext3 to the root partition, and since it happened, arts keeps complaining about 'CPU overload' and although alsa is OK programs needing arts to make sound can't, of course. But apps that write to alsa directly run ok, like mplayer or xmms.

  Thanks for your time. Regards,

             tor

Closing, as amaroK fails to connect to the socket. Something's wrong on your box.

Starting "amarokapp" however might work.
Comment 4 tor 2006-05-31 19:19:05 UTC
  Thanks for the answer.

I'm afraid amarokapp command does't exist in my box, just a process
called like that when I run amarok.

I removed the configuration in the .kde directory and now starts fine
but the thing is that whenever I close it from the tray, for any reason
the amarokapp process isn't killed or stopped, so I can't run amarok
again before killing amarokapp.

  Thanks again,

       tor
