Description Technologov 2006-04-23 22:02:47 UTC
Version: 1.8.2 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "b" , SUSE 10.0)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15-default

please add a new ability to KMail - to "save as" HTML format.

The lack of - is the only reason I still use Thunderbird on Linux.
Comment 1 Thiago Macieira 2006-04-26 18:15:33 UTC
How would it be saved? The exact representation of what you see in the message pane? (That's HTML)
Comment 2 Technologov 2006-05-13 22:25:07 UTC
I want to make it work like Mozilla Thunderbird. Saving emails as HTML is vital for me. I want to archive lots of emails that way.
Comment 3 Technologov 2006-09-16 17:00:45 UTC
Hello - is anyone looked on this?
This is a very needed feature.
Comment 4 Technologov 2006-09-22 14:44:39 UTC
Hello - is anyone looking at this report at all !?!?
Comment 5 Ingo Klöcker 2006-09-22 23:17:38 UTC
It's not very likely that your wish will be implemented by the core developers. If you are lucky then someone else will contribute a patch but I would bet a dime on it.
Comment 6 gerlos 2009-05-08 12:45:53 UTC
This is a feature that a lot of people expect when using a mail reader, why not implement it?
Comment 7 François Rey 2009-07-27 13:06:26 UTC
KDE dev clearly ignored this wish. I suggest people to vote for this feature (requires registration, but hey do you want that feature?)
Comment 8 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-08-18 08:16:01 UTC
Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 9 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 00:35:09 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
Comment 10 Bernd Oliver Sünderhauf 2012-11-24 09:33:09 UTC
Yes, Thunderbird can export individual mails to HTML, and kmail2 cannot.
Don't really think it's too important, but of course a valid wishlist for kmail2.
Would that be component "commands and actions" or just "general"?

With 5.24.4 it is still a problem.
With an email with Content-type: text/html, there is no way (I could find) to save this as HTML file.

The use case is:
Robin wants to save an HTML email to a file to open it with their favourite web browser, either to be more secure or to profit from the credentials saved in the particular browser.

Right now there is no attachment shown and even in the email structure view there is no context menu (and this no save as entry in the contect menu). Also the "Save attachments" functionality does not work as it says: There is no attachment.
Comment 12 Bernhard E. Reiter 2024-01-15 15:14:33 UTC
Okay, I start wondering, maybe I am in the wrong use case here.
If the original reported wanted an export for the full email as HTML then it would include headers and different MIME parts.
Comment 13 Bernhard E. Reiter 2024-01-15 15:22:35 UTC
Split out the save text/html part into https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479851

(Still this stays "confirmed" for kmail2 as I found no way to _export_ a full email as html.)
