Version: 1.8.2 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "b" , SUSE 10.0) Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.8-default Note: Part of this feature wish (the updating) is included in bug report #75566. This is mainly a wish to improve usability/convenience. Working with Opera on a windows machine I find it very convenient that searches (filtered views) for typical defaults are created automatically. With "default" filters I mean that I would like to have searches automatically created for: - unread mails - contacts I received mails from/sent mails to - mailing lists - recent conversations (this might be tricky with the current search design) New searches should be created on the following conditions: 1. a new mail is created, received, imported 2. auto-search-creation feature is turned on 3. a search with the rule to be created does not exist yet The automatically created searches could be hierarchically stored: + searches + manual searches - all mails about my booring project - mails from my bosses + unread mails + contacts + mailing lists The issue with updating those searches is already being discussed in the bug report #75566, so I will post my ideas about handling updates there. However, the advantage of these automatic-filters would be that the filtering rules are very simple: typically just comparing the to/from/cc/bcc fields to all email-addresses in available contacts should be sufficient, and therefore very fast.
