Version: 3.5.1 (using KDE 3.5.1, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.1-0ubuntu11 dapper) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.15-19-686 I use konqueror a lot to edit wiki pages. Editing of the pages starts fast and usable but after some time it slows down and becomes almost unusable. Typing a character produces a 100% spike in CPU usage. The only solution is to open a new konqueror window and close the old one. I am using dokuwiki on a ubuntu dapper install using the free radeon driver. The computer is a laptop with 512Mb ram and a 1500MHz processor.
Do you have 'auto spell check' enabled? (Right-click on a text input field -> auto spell check). Try with spell check disabled
I updated to 3.5.2 from dapper and I disabled auto-spellcheck and the problem still persists. The problem is difficult to reproduce. I haven't kept track of how many pages I have to create/edit in a wiki (or hit the preview button) to get this behaviour on the text entry box. It is window specific (i.e. this window does not suffer from slowdowns) and hitting the reload button does not solve the problem. It seems to be independent on the amount of text entered. Today the problem appeared after typing a single line in a text box, after updating 4-5 pages.

I've a similar problem when using dokuwiki-20060309e on a gentoo 64-bit box. It doesn't appears on other wiki. It happens only with konqueror-3.5.5, not with 3.5.2 or other browsers (e.g. firefox). It's unuseful to stop 'auto spell check' with mouse right click. Is there a way to stop permanently auto spell check?
Just posted a wish for permanently disabling spell checking as Bug 176048.
