Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1) OS: Linux If you have a computer in a SMB workgroups with the same name as the workgroup a programs open/save dialog, as well as konqueror, will show the computer in question, but will not be able to browse it (show it's shares). i.e. I have a workgroup named Olmzog, and a home server in that workgroup named Olmzog. When browsing to Network Folders->Samba Shares I see the Olmzog workgroup listed. Double-clicking that displays all computers with smb shares in that workgroup, the Olmzog computer is in the list. However, double-clicking on the Olmzog computer has no visible effect (my guess is the browser gets confused and browses to the Olmzog workgroup again, instead of the computer). The computer in question can still be browsed to by manually entering it's IP address (aka smb://192.168.0.11/), or by using the smbclient terminal program (aka $ smbclient //OLMZOG/Share). Reproducible: Always How to Reproduce: 1. Setup computer with network id the same as workgroup id. 2. Using a second computer, try to browse to the first computer using any kde app's open/save dialog, or konqueror via the samba shares browser. Expected behaviour: Double-clicking the computer should list that computer's shares, and preferrably show a file path which is distinguishable from the workgroup list (ie smb://Olmzog/ for the workgroup and smb://Olmzog/Olmzog/ for the computer). Other info: I doubt it matters, but the computer in my situation has a description entry in addition to it's name. Instead of just being listed as "Olmzog" it is listed as "Olmzog (dell)" - Olmzog being its network id and dell being its computer description. I also doubt the samba version matters since everything works fine with exception of the kde dialog, but never the less: The computer I'm trying to browse to: [c0uch@olmzog ~]$ smbstatus Samba version 3.0.14a-2 and the computer I'm trying to browse from: ┌┬─(c0uch@gentoo)─(9/pts)─(12:26am:03/24/06)-- └┴-($:~)-- smbstatus Samba version 3.0.10
KDE 3 is no longer supported. Feel free to reopen this ticket if the issue is still present in the current stable version of KDE 4. Thanks for the report.
