Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Irix The developers' and the users' opinions of what has to be shown in system:/ might differ. In my mind system:/ of KDE 3.4.3 was perfect: I could access the settings and I could access the root directory. In KDE 3.5.1 both are cut from system:/, instead there is a new link to all home directories. I think most of the desktop systems are one user systems so for them this link is completely useless. Therefore I think it would be really helpful to let the user decide what he/she wants to have in system:/ .
I was about to file a bug so that fonts:/ would appear in system:/, but I'll put the comment here instead. fonts:/ is very useful if you know of it - but it's very hard to find it; most users won't. If it was put in system:/ then that would be very good.
For those who want to use fonts in system:/ : add a URL with address fonts:/ to your ~/.kde/share/apps/systemview. Closing this bug: works for me and obsolete with KDE 4.
