Version: 0.11.1 and 0.12 beta (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: Unspecified Other Compiler: gcc 4.0.3-1 OS: Linux I have a firewalled connection to the web. Kopete disconnects and reconnects every minute or so when using MSN plugin and HTTP method. Gaim and aMSN (and microsoft's messenger) work fine in the same environment. Note: when using accounts with few contacts kopete does not notify that it has disconnected as often, but as soon as you try to chat it tells you you are offline. I found the same behaviour in the latest stable version and in the 0.12 beta (arch linux package)
Does kopete work if you turn off the firewall?
I don't know because I'm on a corporate network and have no access to the firewall. I will try it at home ASAP. I forgot to add that this happens on my main machine and on my laptop, both running archlinux 0.71 and KDE 3.5.1
Ok, tried it from home using an ADSL connection (with no FW); using HTTP method I get some disconnections, even though they seem they happen not as often.

I get this same behavior in Debian with the 3.5.2-1 version package. I am also behind a firewall that I can't control. Also Gaim and MSN in Windows using HTTP Method works fine. I am disconnected for a second and then reconnect.
same behaviour 0.12.2 sine 0.10 would anyone fix this ?
I have the same problem in kopete 0.12.4 kubuntu 6.10
Same problem here with Kopete 0.12.3 on debian testing (larry)
desbien testing: lenny, not larry
Same problem here - Kopete 0.12.4 on KDE 3.5.6 Platform: Kubuntu Feisty 7.04
I still see this behavior in kde 3.5.8.
This behavior persists in Kubuntu kde4 beta2 (Kopete 0.50.80)
Seems related to Bug 151638. Amsn resolve this problem more than one year ago by revision 9005 and revision 9054. Regards Bastien
We've completely replaced the current MSN implementation with a new MSN implementation which If you continue to experience this bug after testing the new implementation (which can be gotten from our subversion repository or with the KDE 4.2 Beta 1 release), PLEASE, open a new bug rather than reopening this bug. Thank you for your time and efforting in helping us find and fix problems in Kopete.
