Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux Editing of longer texts (eg. docs) in KBabel editor can be painful. Would it be possible to edit msgstr in external editor (like in KMail)?
That is going to be difficult, as a msgtr is not an external file (unlike a message). However I had toyed with the idea of being able to use an extra editing window (as a msgstr can be larger than the available size of the window in KBabel). What I do not know if this extra window should be with the internal editing mechanism or with the KDE editor component. Uing the KDE editor component would somehow follow your idea but then KBabel could not offer any translation support (which is a drawback). Have a nice day!

Write to temporary file and later retrieve it? > What I do not know if this extra window should be with the internal > editing mechanism or with the KDE editor component. KDE editor component limits choice of editors, isn't it? You could consider additional window as a bonus: leave original KBabel window as help tool and editor just with text. Update field as file is written.

We have currently problems enough in the catalog manager to track updated files, so it is reallysomething I would like to avoid for now. Have a nice day!
Since KBabel is no longer under active development, moving wish to lokalize.
