Description Ovi Bachmann 2006-03-06 17:28:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

SAVE POP PASSWORD DOESN'T WORK OVER A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. Somehow the check of the box is being lost after a certain time. Usually Kwallet comes up when starting the PC but after the check is being lost I have to go there and mark save pop password again.
I was not able to figure out the reason why the check is not there sometimes.
I have an overall of 8 email accounts that I handle with kmail.

When the problem starts happening -- i.e., when it no longer remembers the password -- can you check if the process "kded" is still running?
Comment 2 Ovi Bachmann 2006-03-08 08:50:47 UTC
I realize that it forgot the password only after a new booting of the Pc. I guess it is too late to look whether or not the process is running then. Can I try it somehow, for example by killing the process and check whether it forgot the password? Or any other way?

No. Don't kill the process because you will have problems.

When it happens again, tell us if the process is running.

You can apparently reproduce this quite easily, no?

Sorry but I can't reproduce it. I just have to wait till it happens again.

quoting mail to owner@

thank you for your help. The problem I described below did not occur for the last 2 months. I know the reason why it happened this time. Starting the PC envokes the wallet to come up. If I don't put my password in but deny - than the next time I start the computer wallet does not come up but I haver to put in every password again. I don't think it is good to program it this way - maybe you guys can change that for the future.
