Description Haenggi 2006-03-04 14:28:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I have no problems with displaying files in the Konqueror of a hard disk formated with WindowsXP on a WindowsXP machine by a smb LAN. However, only the directories are listed, but not the files of hard disks formated with Windows98 now transferred to the same WindowsXP machine. It is not an smb problem, because I can link these directories to the local Linux directory by smbmount (i.e. to /lan) and then display and work with the files with the Konqueror using the mounted (/lan) directory.
Is it possible to solve this nuisance of having first to log in as root and to have the directories smbmounted in order to display in the Konqueror? What is the reason for the different handling of the files on different hard disks in the first place?
Thanks for an explanation!
Operating system SuSe 9.3

Ancient software on both sides of the network cable. :) Let's open a new bug if the issue happens again for more recent versions of the softwares.
