Version: 0.11 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0) I would like to be able to set an option in kopete to ignore the server side groups and use only ones setup in the client. For example, I am currently connected to both MSN and Jabber and both have groups set up for friends and co-workers, but both show up as separate groups in kopete when i would rather have them merged. I tried merging the contacts but now they just show up in both lists at the same time, and kopete crashes if i try to delete one of the entries.
wildfire has a feature called "group sharing". This updates the server side groups at each login. All changes i have done are undone. I would like to have a feature to ignore server groups or to have to two views to my contact list. One view, there each contact is listed in the clientside groups an one view for the server-side groups. Or enable symlinks, so i can have my own groups, with metacontacts which links to contacts in server-side-groups
Created attachment 42301 [details] Add an option to XMPP accounts to ignore server side groups. I have the same issue with the Facebook XMPP Server. First, I group my contacts on Facebook quite differently than in Kopete. Secondly, to make it even worse, the Facebook Server seems to ignore client-side group modifications, after the next login, all Facebook contacts (and all meta contacts containing Facebook XMPP accounts) are moved back to the root group (since I have disabled chat groups via the Facebook web interface). Attached is a patch that adds an option to XMPP accounts for ignoring server side groups. This was just a quick patch for personal use, but could be a reasonable starting point for a solution to this problem.
I too would like this option
I'd like to see this patch included

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
