Description kdebugs 2006-02-19 09:09:36 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.8-default

One problem with email ist to get the dialogues together. You get an answer to an email you send three days ago - do you really know what exactly you have written in your mail? Or what your collegue responded? No, you have to search the other mails to get sure. And how do you find them? You have to change in teh "sent" folder and then back in the inbox or in the archive and back again.

There are to ways to get a little more comfort in this.

1. I'd like a new 'context view' of more than one mail at once. This should look a little bit like the threaded view on slashdot: You click one message and you get the whole thread on one page in a strctured view. This mode would be especially helpfull for mailing lists.

2. Links to related messages: at the bottom of the mail you get several options:

- show mails with the same topic
- show mails from the same sender
- show the last mail you send to this sender
- show the mail the incoming mail refers to
- show the mails that refer to this mail

etc.. there are many possibilities. You can see this in some mail archives. Like here: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-laptop/2004-Nov/0128.html 'Next message'; 'Previous message'; 'Next in thread'; - Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] [ attachment ]

IBM Research's "ReMail" features an interesting implementation of conversation tracking UI called "Thread Arcs": http://www.research.ibm.com/remail/threads.html

Hi,

I think, I have the same problem :
'Sent' mails and 'received' mails of a discussion are not linked in a same thread.
I always must switch between 'sent' folder and 'inbox' folder to read back a discussion.

On gmail interface, for example, when you look a discussion, all mails (sent and received) are displayed in the thread regardless of folder('sent' or 'inbox').

Regards,
Thomas PIERSON

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
