Description Benka 2006-02-18 01:07:00 UTC
Version: 1.8.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1KDE 3.4.2KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Unspecified LinuxUnspecified LinuxUnspecified Linux
OS: Linux

In previous Kmail versions, the authentication to imap server has been working perfect, but when i upgraded from KDE version 3.3.2 to version 3.4.2, that stopped working.
Kmail version 1.7.2 worked, version 1.8.2 don't.
The thing that changed is that v1.8.2 uses sasl2 for authentication. I can't make that behave as previous version.

I Use prebuilt version from Slackware. Slackware version is 10.2 (Current stable).

The bug is the same as old resolved one, "Connection to IMAP server broke unexpectly" when I try to connect to IMAP server and retrieve folders and check for new mail.
Even when I remove all settings in KDE and configure KMail fresh (not using old preferences) it still can't connect to IMAP server.

The IMAP server is an old Pine 4.44 IMAP server, which has worked perfectly and still works when not using sasl2 lib.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
